CTRI’s mission is to support businesses and the socio-economic community in the forestry, agricultural and mining sectors in their efforts to recover industrial waste and its underutilized resources. The organization also helps businesses with their environmental remediation initiatives in order to increase their competitiveness. CTRI takes part in exploring, identifying, and proposing innovative solutions valorizing industrial waste and underutilized natural resources by accelerating the implementation of environmentally responsible and business practices.

With a multidisciplinary team and more than forty thousand square feet of space, the CTRI carries out more than $3 million annually in applied research dedicated to Québec companies. In addition to its two pilot mineral processing plants, the CTRI has five laboratories representing the centre's various business areas. The centre’s principle areas of focus are the decontamination of industrial environments, the recovery of waste materials and underutilized resources within a circular economy perspective.
